Auto insurance quote and tornadosWith the number of unusual amounts of tornadoes assaulting the country during the past several weeks. Residents of Joplin, Missouri are preparing for more. This small city was decimated by a massive tornado that killed 117 people over the weekend and may get hit again, according to ABC News.

There have already been more than 300 reported deaths from storms that ravaged the South in April and the number continues to grow. There were almost 7,000 claims reported to homeowner and car insurance companies after the Good Friday tornado and that number will keep growing for the foreseeable future.

John M. Huff, director of the Missouri Department of Insurance, said in a statement that the agency “will continue to monitor developments to make sure that consumers are receiving their benefits they’re due under their insurance policies.”

Bundled home and auto insurance policies in action

People that have packaged home and car insurance may find it easier to file claims since they only have to make one phone call. There is no telling how it helped residents that insurance companies were prepared to handle the massive call volume, but many victims have reported positive outcomes when dealing with their agents, ABC reports.

“They’ve been more than consistent with following-up and helping us get things resolved,” tornado victim Errol Redd told the news outlet.

Support is high for storm victims across the USA

There has also been an outpouring of support from people across the country wanting to help the storms’ victims. The Salvation Army and Red Cross say that the best donation that can be made is money. While many citizens want to help by donating food and clothes, the organizations feel that this actually hampers the recovery process because volunteers have to sort through the donations.

Comprehensive car insurance works

People that do not have certain types of car insurance coverage on their vehicles may find out that they are not going to be reimbursed for their loss. Comprehensive insurance may cover any unforeseen damage that could happen to a car. If a tree ripped out of the ground falls on top of a car, this is the policy that would pay for that. Many people may have been apprehensive about needing this coverage, but as these disasters continue to spread Americans may want to rethink their decisions.
